Run No 12 - The St Kitts Invasion

Would they make it or would they call it off again at the last minute - no such luck. Saturday morning saw the RA at Little Bay (at the GM's insistence that he had spotted the St Kitts' boat) at 11 am. As the GM was so convinced he soon joined Rusty, with Arsefelt and Doggy-style. An hour later they gave up, went home, and came back when the boat eventually arrived after 1pm

We should have guessed what we were in for when X went walkabout at Little Bay when the St Kitts' Hashers were still waiting for clearance. As soon as MAHH Hashers arrived to pick up their charges all plans were changed, and all (well, most) headed for Old Road Bay and up Garibaldi. X stayed at Jumpin' Jacks and got into tequila slammers with Rusty. He then decided not to run but to sleep in a puddle instead. Good move.

Almost on time assorted Hashers made it back to Danny & Margaret's to meet the Hares and receive their instructions. 3 pm - far too hot to be going across the golf course, up Isles Bay plantation, up the old pitch road at the back of Olveston House/Salem Park, and into Desert Storm for a cleansing ale (if you were walking). Runners meanwhile tried to struggle up the l o n g hill along Spring Ghaut also finally meeting up with the walkers at the Desert Storm. There was a lovely ambiance in the bar - 100 degrees plus temperature mixed with the air heavily laded with chicken fat. But no amount of rest could have prepared us for the ascent through Hope to Happy Hill and the loop back (although there was a little bar not far from Desert Storm which was nice and cool, offering a great view of passing Hashers, or so I'm told). Then the most galling of all - practically the same route back (but downhill at least, so no complaints really).

Then back to Old Road Bay where Moose Dick first back (had he ever left?), beers cooled and ready for the extensive On-on (once we'd got the GM out of the sea). Lasagne and more beer at Jumpin' Jacks (8 cases of beer at the On-on, 7 at Danny & Margaret's), followed by a beer or three at Misers….less said the better Papa Smurf? Popcorn slept soundly, beer bottle on his chest, first on the pool table and later on the bench outside.

Breakfast Sunday at Gourmet & Gardens - some weary-looking Hashers - and then back to the port to see them off. Port authorities kindly allowed us to take the hairs of dogs through and Arsefelt and GM couldn't resist the water.

Thank you Danny & Margaret for feeding and watering us on Saturday night, and Meriet and Maureen for bringing us back to life (or as close as possible) on Sunday morning. And a special thank you to all MAHH Hashers who looked after visiting St Kittitians. Will they let us back to Misers?

ON ON!
